ITINERARY :
Depart Dar Es Salaam early and transfer by safari 4×4 to Mikumi National Park . Here you will settle into your campsite beneath a huge boabab tree and have lunch. Afternoon game drive, dinner and overnight camping in the park with an armed ranger for your protection.
Morning game drive, breakfast, transfer to Iringa where you will have lunch and pick up supplies in the colourful local market before carrying on to Ruaha National Park . Here you will game drive to the Ruaha River where you will stay on the banks at Msembe Bandas.
Full day game drive exploring Ruaha National Park looking for Wild Dogs, cheetahs, leopards and super prides of up to 20 lions. Based at Msembe Bandas.
Morning game drive, transfer (lunch on the way) to the Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Here you will stay at Hondo Hondo Camp in a thatched banda next to the forest. Udzungwa is part of the Eastern Arc range of mountains and is known as the ‘Galapogos of Africa’ due to its high degree of endemism. There are several endemic primates on site at Hondo Hondo and over 100 bird species may be seen.
Hike into the superb primary forest to the base and then the top of the spectacular 180m Sanje Waterfall looking for primates on the way (Iringa Red Colobus and Sanje Mangeby). Swim in plunge pools, see endemic African Violets growing in the spray zones and have lunch in the forest on the top of the falls. Descend after enjoying superb views. Return to Hondo Hondo for dinner and overnight.
Morning bird and monkey walk along the forest edge at Hondo Hondo, breakfast, transfer to Dar with lunch on the way. End of safari.
